Panel/Electrical Service Upgrades

An Electrical Panel Upgrade is a service where the existing electrical service panel is upgraded to a new one with new circuit breakers. The electrical service panel is like a switchboard for all of the electricity for the home or building. It receives the incoming power from your utility company and distributes this power to the circuits for your internet, lights, and appliances. It is the most critical part of your home or building’s electricity. What most people don’t know is that your electrical panel can get damaged or ineffective due to age and normal wear and tear. If this happens, your electrical system may not be running as safely as efficiently as it could otherwise. If the problem is simply an older panel & breakers causing the issues, only the panel and breakers need to be replaced. If the issue is too much of an electrical load which the panel can’t support, a full scale electric service upgrade is the plan of action. It usually involves upgrading electrical service in the home to 200 amps, which is the standard in today’s homes. This involves the complete replacement of electrical service around the house. This includes the line side service entrance cable, meter base, weather head, load side service entrance cable, the grounding and bonding system, and, of course, the electric panel itself. Sometimes, we are able to update the electrical meter and the new electric panel in their original locations, if the layout of the house has not changed much over the years.

In addition to full scale panel & service upgrades, we conduct troubleshooting on panels that have become a nuisance. When we arrive we will do the following:

• Check to make sure breakers are operating correctly and replace any faulty breakers

• Tighten connections that loosen over time

• Update you on current safety code

• Check for corrosion & water damage before it causes you to replace the entire panel
